A Fantastic Review for Grand Slam!
I wasn’t sure what to expect with Grand Slam as I’m not a big sports fan, but I wanted to give it a go as limiting reading material based on personal interests can mean missing out on some great books.
Grand Slam is a M/F BDSM novel written from the first person perspective of the two main characters, Marie Sherratt and Travis Connolly. Marie is a sports psychologist and Travis, a world class tennis player, is her patient, and while both characters are stereotypically beautiful, their personalities are intelligent and complex. I loved the psychology aspect as the therapy sessions allowed an insight into the characters that would have felt forced in any other interaction, but they were also used as a stepping stone to a more personal relationship rather than being the main focus of the story.
The dialogue, both internal and external, is natural, and the writing styles of each author fit together seamlessly to create an easy to read novel that pulled me into the story rather than leaving me watching from the outside.
And, of course, as an erotic novel, the sex has to be good. And it is. Lily Harlem and Lucy Felthouse pull out all the stops to create believable sex scenes, both from a visual perspective and an emotional one. Their attention to detail is fantastic, and the result is a novel that will leave you hot and bothered and desperate for more.
No book is perfect, but my only criticism with this novel is that I personally don’t like first person narratives told by more than one character as it is easy to forget whose viewpoint you’re seeing. Saying that, it only took a few chapters before I got into the flow of it.
My final thoughts are that I am happily surprised to have enjoyed a sports themed erotic story, that I will definitely read more by both of these authors, and that I will ……. this novel to all of my friends.
While I was given this novel for free to review, I will happily spend money on both of these authors from now on. Lucy Felthouse and Lily Harlem, keep up the great work.
